Riding for Refugees in NW and in Burma

Website and blog: http://stellasbiking.wordpress.com
I have begun a cycling crusade around the Pacific Northwest and in Burma (Myanmar) to raise awareness and support for displaced Burmese. With many new refugees arriving in the NW since 2007, the aim is to provide sustainable resources to improve the health, education and wellness of this ethnic population. Get involved with a ride-along, attend a Burmese picnic, volunteer or donate to the cause at Riding for Refugees http://stellasbiking.wordpress.com.
This website has details of the full project and includes a picnic page for the Tri-Cities Burmese in Kennewick – June 29 at Keewaydin Park 5:00pm – 9:00pm. I am a member of the Northwest Communities of Burma (https://www.facebook.com/NWCBurma) and a college professor at Bellevue College. I am recruiting volunteers to help with the potluck picnic and get Burmese refugees to the event. Volunteers can sign up directly on the picnic page for Ride 3 at the website http://stellasbiking.wordpress.com

NW Ride - 1000 cycling miles will connect Burmese communities of the Puget Sound to those in Spokane, the Tri-Cities Vancouver BC, and Portland, Oregon. Proceeds will benefit the Northwest Communities of Burma (NWCB), driven primarily by volunteers, providing community events, education, and advocacy. NWCB works to advance Burmese refugees and immigrants towards their social and professional goals.

Burma Ride - 1000 cycle miles in Burma will connect several ethnic communities there. This ride will benefit the Mae Tao Clinic, a health care provider and training center for displaced Burmese and ethnic people on the Thai/Burma border. Stella will culminate her sabbatical as a volunteer at Mae Tao clinic.

Please promote to the community and feel free to contact me if you have questions. Stella Orechia (425) 891-9497 stella.orechia@bellevuecollege.edu
I also sent this to the Kennewick Tribune Paper.
