The Big Picture
Just east of the Snoqualmie Pass mountains in the cozy hills of Walla Walla Washington the Garrison Middle school has become the spotlight for an ambitious youth project depicting a mural of a boy sitting on the edge of outer space, from planets painted in a kaleidoscope of colors to blossoming flowers.
The murals are ideas of Seattle based artist Adream de Valdivia, 28, who, has encouraged the youth to paint side by side with the artist. “ I’ve discovered the youth take ownership of the mural, through art they see imagination become reality”, said Adream.
Artist Adream is using Kickstarter to continue Washington State Murals: Youth become leaders to complete four new walls in Pasco depicting lush agriculture. Washington agriculture has become a portrait of the State’s culture. The murals are expected to stretch from Walla Walla to Seattle by 2014. When people see a hand painted mural it’s reminder of the power to create.
Its hardly seems possible, but there is less than 30 days to contribute to Washington State Murals Project: Youth become leaders on Kickstarter, this is the opportunity to transform your local walls in downtown into Public Art Murals.
