Attached is a video of Dale & Debbie Lee's front yard going downstream in the "little" Manastash Creek aka Manastash River!! The creek runs down Hansen Road out of Manastash Canyon on the west side of Ellensburg. You can hear the boulders rolling downstream. More than half of their large yard is gone. Sunday night they put a few hay bales to guard the swing set (not a water slide) but it was being surrounded by water as they worked. The water was still rising.
SIDE NOTE: This 46 year old normally, strong, healthy couple have had hard times over the past two years. Dale Lee was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma cancer which had destroyed bones in his back. He had to have stem cell harvest, then major back surgery and neck surgery which has him in constant pain. Then in July at KVCH at the birth of their third grandchild, Debbie had the first of two heart attacks and was rushed to Yakima Memorial. Due to their health, they needed to do downsize and sold their 20 year well-established dry wall business to their son a few months ago. They also have their home up for sale because the maintenance. We all worried about Debbie because she loved doing the acres of lawn work but now this flood has cut her work in half. I guess the "plan" isn't always what we think it is. This young couple is keeping a strong resolve to get through these tough times.
