Olaf Kolzig Happy To Be With Tampa Bay

By Keith Leventhal

Earlier this week, we heard from Tri-City Americans owners Olaf Kolzig and Stu Barnes about the Ams amazing season.

While the 2 owners enjoy watching their team, they're both still playing in the NHL.

Kolzig had spent his entire 16 year career in Washington, but late last season, he was demoted, and he says he knew it was time to go.

He spent a couple months trying to decide whether to go somewhere else or retire.

Earlier this month, he decided to sign a 1 year deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

And Kolzig says it was an easy decision.

Kolzig says, "Its Tampa Bay, I mean, 65 degrees in January, it's a pretty tough place to say no to, so, we're looking forward to it, my family's excited, the kids are an hour from Disney World, so, we're gonna try it out and see how it goes, but I hope to have a lot of success this year and try to obviously win a Stanley Cup at some point."

Kolzig says he's very excited about some of the moves the Lightning made during the off-season.

And he's expected to split time in net with Tampa's other goalie, Mike Smith.
