Olie and Stu's Desert Bash Hits Big Milestone

Olie and Stu's Desert Bash Hits Big Milestone
For the last 8 years, a lot of sports celebrities have come to the Tri-Cities in the middle of July for a big fundraiser.

And this year was no different.

For the 9th straight year, former NHL stars Olaf Kolzig and Stu Barnes held their big golf tournament to raise money for the Carson Kolzig Foundation.

Olie and Stu's Desert Bash brought out several big name celebrities again this year.

And this year's event had a little extra meaning.

The group raised around $150,000 dollars this year and that means the total amount they've raised in 9 years is just over $1 million.

Kolzig and Barnes are thrilled to have reached that milestone and they say it couldn't have been done without the support of the Tri-Cities.

Olaf Kolzig says, "It speaks volumes of this community and they believe in what we're doing and now that we have the Responding to Autism center up and running and people can actually see, physically, where their money is going to, I mean, it really warms your heart."

Stu Barnes adds, "Every year we're amazed and, again, we're amazed this year and just so thankful for all the support and what a wonderful time everybody's had, like I said, to actually get some results and to see some results now and help people that need help and that's a wonderful thing."

In addition to Olie and Stu, there were several other former and current Tri-City Americans on the course, including Johnny Lazo, Drew Owsley, and Taylor Procyshen.

And you'll hear from a couple of those players, as well as more from Olie and Stu, later this week.
