Most of our area's high school athletes are enjoying a quiet summer.
But, one athlete has used this quiet time to figure out where he's going next year.
Walla Walla hurdler Garrett Gerling has decided to continue his track career at Washington State.
Gerling set a number of school records during his time with the Blue Devils and qualified for state this year in a pair of events.
In the 110 meter hurdles, he finished in 3rd at state and in the 300 hurdles, he was 6th.
He's actually the 2nd track and field athlete from our area to sign with Washington State this year.
Hermiston's discus and shotput star, Mary Barnett, signed with the Cougs back in May.
