Ams Win A Huge Game In Spokane

This is the final weekend of regular season for the Tri-City Americans.

The Ams final 2 games of the year are against the hated Spokane Chiefs.

The Ams have struggled against the Chiefs this year, going 3-7 and, to make matters even worse, they've lost the last 5 games they've played against Spokane.

Friday night, it was round 1 between the teams...this game was up in Spokane.

The two teams would trade goals all night.

But, with 7 minutes left in the 3rd, Jordan Messier scored.

And that was the difference.

Tri-City breaks their 5-game losing streak against Spokane as they win 4-3.

The Americans will wrap up the regular season Saturday night when they host the Chiefs.

That win also meant if 2nd place Everett lost on Friday night to Seattle, the Ams would clinch the division and conference titles.

But, the Silvertips just wouldn't help Tri-City out...they beat the Thunderbirds 3-1.

So, with just a couple games left in the regular season, here's a look at the updated U.S. Division standings.

The Ams are still 2 points ahead of Everett and all they need is one more win, or one more Silvertips loss, to clinch the title.

Spokane is now 6 points back and the best they can do is 3rd place.

And, Portland still has a chance to jump over the Chiefs and knock them down to 4th.
