The Prosser girls basketball team has made it to the state semifinals for the 3rd straight year.
But, they've struggled in this round...in 2008, they lost to River Ridge and last year, they lost to Archbishop Murphy.
The Mustangs tried to snap that streak on Friday night...but, it wouldn't be easy as they played unbeaten West Valley of Spokane.
And congratulations to the Mustangs...they hand West Valley their first loss of the year...the final was 55-41.
And that means Prosser is heading to the state title game.
This is the first time the Prosser girls basketball team has been in the championship game since 1997, when, coincidentally, they lost to West Valley of Spokane.
This time, they'll be playing River Ridge.
These two teams have actually played twice before in the state tournament.
In 2007, the Hawks beat the Mustangs in the quarterfinals...then, the following year, the Hawks won again in the semifinals.
Prosser will try to change those stats on Saturday...the state championship game tips off at 9 PM in the Yakima SunDome.
Down in Oregon, the 5A boys state tournament also continued on Friday.
Pendleton lost to Silverton in the state quarterfinals on Thursday.
Friday, they were back on the court against Wilsonville.
The Buckaroos only trailed by 1 after 3 quarters...but the Wildcats pulled away in the 4th and they pick up the 55-47 win.
So, Pendleton's season comes to an end with a record of 20-7.
