Last year, the Prosser girls basketball team played Elma in the state quarterfinals...and the Mustangs beat the Eagles by 5.
This year, Prosser is back in the state quarterfinals...and you'll never guess who they played.
That's right...the Elma Eagles were waiting for them once again.
This is actually the 3rd straight year these two teams have met in the state tournament.
And the Mustangs are moving on in the championship bracket.
Prosser takes care of Elma...the final score was 62-56.
With the win, Prosser is back in the state semifinals for the 3rd straight year.
But, they've struggled quite a bit in this round.
In 2008, they lost to River Ridge by 19, and last year, they fell to Archbishop Murphy by 15.
.
This year, they're going to face another huge test as they play unbeaten West Valley of Spokane.
This game gets started Friday night at 9.
There's also some state tournament action down in Oregon to talk about.
The Pendleton boys made it to the state quarterfinals for the first time since 1978.
Unfortunately, they aren't going to make it any further in the championship bracket.
The Buckaroos lost to Silverton Thursday afternoon 56-42.
Pendleton will be back on the court Friday morning at 9 when they play Wilsonville in an elimination game.
The Hermiston girls also lost their state quarterfinal game.
They were back in action on Thursday, playing a loser out game against Willamette.
And the Bulldogs bounced back nicely as they beat the Wolverines 59-52.
That win means Hermiston will win a trophy this year.
They'll play West Albany on Saturday morning in the 4th and 6th place game.
