We have several that are currently in the pros and many more that are playing major college sports.
And now, a couple of high school kids are in the running for a big national award.
The nominees for the McDonald's All-American basketball teams have been announced.
One of the nominees is Walla Walla's Gary Winston, who will be taking his skills to Idaho next year.
He's joined on the list by his teammate, Michael Weisner, who will be continuing his basketball career at the University of Montana.
There were also a pair of Tri-Cities players that made the cut.
Hanford's Laura Hughes is the only female nominee from our area.
But, she's not the only Hanford player on the list.
Pete Zachara was also nominated for the All-American game.
These are just 4 of the 2,000 players who were nominated nationwide.
That list will be trimmed a few more times before the final teams are announced at some point in the next few weeks.
