Wednesday was National Signing Day, the first day some high school players can sign with a college.

We had a lot of local athletes sign...but the biggest signing was a football player from Pasco.

The Bulldogs wide receiver and track star Marques Avery signed with Army.

He said he's not sure where he'll fit in on the football team...and since he'll spend next year in prep school, he's at least a few seasons away from playing on the Black Knights football team.

He did have a couple offers to stay closer to home, but he says the military could offer him more than those other schools.

Avery says, "Football did play a part in it, but, when I talked it over with my mom about it, you know, we gotta put everything to the side, you know, family and football and all that other stuff and think about the schooling, what kind of education am I going to receive and how's that going to help me out later in life."

Avery wasn't the only athlete signing at Pasco on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs had 2 other players sign with Division 1 schools.

Shawna Anderson will play soccer at Seattle University and Marisa Vander Malle will run track at Boise State.

In addition, 9 other Pasco soccer players signed with NWAACC schools.

And all of those soccer stars were happy to share this moment with each other.

Anderson says, "Its awesome, its like, we have so much talent in our group and just to see everyone going somewhere and doing something with their talent is awesome."

Out of those other 9 players that signed, 6 were teammates of Anderson.

Marianne Johnson and Kaylie Winston are going to Walla Walla Community College, while Amber Craig, Hannah Kirk, Caitlyn Blundon, and Mahaley Sapp are all heading to CBC.
