We're down to the final week of the high school football season.
There are only 12 teams left in the entire state that are still playing...and 2 of them are from our area.
In 1A, Connell is no stranger to playing into early December.
On Saturday, the Eagles used a strong running game to beat Chelan 37-14 in the state semifinals.
That put Connell into the state championship game for the 3rd time in the past 4 years and the 5th time in school history.
However, the Eagles have struggled in the title game, losing in 1973, 2006, and 2007, and only winning once, back in 2002 when they were a 2A team.
This year, Connell will go for their first 1A state title.
They'll take on undefeated Cascade Christian in the championship game.
Kickoff is Saturday at 1:00 PM at the Tacoma Dome.
The other local team that's still playing is Tri-Cities Prep.
The Jaguars made it to the state semifinals for just the 2nd time in school history.
And in that round, they got a little revenge on Cusick.
The Panthers eliminated Prep from the playoffs last year...but this year, the Jaguars took care of business, winning 42-26.
That puts Tri-Cities Prep into the state championship game for the first time.
And, in the title game, they'll be playing Lummi, a team they actually know a little about.
The Jaguars and Blackhawks in early September, and Prep got the huge 82-32 win.
This time, they'll be playing at the Tacoma Dome and the game gets started Friday at 4:00 PM.
