Kamiakin Football Heading Back To State

We still have a handful of high school football teams playing for state titles.

The Kamiakin football team missed out on the state tournament last year.

But, after an off-season of big changes, the Braves are back at state.

Kamiakin was the 2nd best team in the Cascade Division this year, only trailing unbeaten Eisenhower.

While the Braves went 8-2, getting there wasn't real easy.

Kamiakin won 6 of their 8 games by 11 points or less, including a pair of wins in overtime.

And Braves head coach Scott Biglin says those close wins should help the team as they move deeper into the postseason.

Coach Biglin says, "You win games, you win games, we don't care how you win, there's no BCS system here and the close games have made us, shown our true character and we kept fighting and we're never gonna quit, so when you play us, you know we're never gonna quit, so, the close games kind of help us prepare for these tight games that we're gonna, we're gonna be in pressure situations the rest of the year and those tight games kind of prepared us for these things."

Last week, the Braves went up to Spokane and beat Central Valley 21-0.

And if Kamiakin is going to make it past the first round of state, they're going to have to do that again this week.

Friday, the Braves will be back in Spokane, taking on Ferris...that game kicks off at 7:00 PM.
