The Tri-City Americans are one of the best teams in the WHL this year.

They've got the best record in the Western Conference and have the 3rd most wins in the entire league.

Now, one of their players has been honored for his work on the ice.

Monday morning, Ams forward Brendan Shinnimin was named WHL Player of the Week.

In just 2 games last week, Shinnimin had 3 goals and 3 assists and helped the Ams win those 2 games by a combined score of 16-5.

Shinnimin is currently 6th in the WHL in goals, 5th in assists, and 2nd in total points...and, he's already set career highs in all 3 of those categories.

He's the first Americans player to be win this award this year and he'll be back on the ice, along with the rest of the Ams, on Wednesday when they play in Medicine Hat.
