CWAC Playoff Soccer and Volleyball Recap 11-5-09

Story Published: Nov 6, 2009 at 12:13 AM PST

There were some other area teams playing in very important playoff games on Thursday night.

The East Valley and Ellensburg girls soccer teams have already clinched their spots in the state tournament.

So that left 1 spot up for grabs in the CWAC and there were 4 teams going for it.

2 of those teams got together in Selah.

The Vikings took on Othello in a loser out game.

Marissa Martinez scores for Othello with less than 10 minutes left in the 2nd half, and that would end up being the game-winning goal.

The Huskies survive to play another day as they beat Selah 2-1.

So, Othello moves into a winner-to-state game.

Athat's where they'd meet the winner of Thursday night's other elimination game.

Prosser was at home taking on Ephrata.

And the Mustangs get the 2-0 win.

So, Othello and Prosser will play each other with a trip to the state tournament on the line.

That game will be on Saturday in Prosser.

The CWAC volleyball district tournament also continued on Thursday night.

We've only got one local team left in the bracket.

Othello played East Valley...and the Huskies got swept 29-27, 25-21, and 25-17.

So, they now move into a loser out match on Saturday against Ellensburg...that match will be in Othello.
