High School Girls Soccer Recap 10-27-09
By Keith Leventhal
Tuesday night was the final night of the Big Nine girls soccer regular season.
And, going into the final night, almost nothing had been decided. 10 of the 12 4A spots were still up for grabs...and that includes the top spot. Richland and Kamiakin were tied for first at the start of the night. The Braves wrapped up the regular season at Pasco. Kamiakin scored on a penalty kick early in the 2nd half. And that goal would prove to be the difference as the Braves end up with the 2-1 win. Unfortunately, we didn't hear a score from the Richland-Walla Walla game, so we can't tell you who won the district title...but we'll have it for you Wednesday at 6. That takes care of the top 2 seeds in the Big Nine. But those weren't the only battles on Tuesday night. There was a big fight for spots 3 through 5. Eisenhower and Southridge started the night tied for 3rd and Pasco was just a game back in 5th place. So, let's see how that all shook out. Southridge wrapped up the season at home against West Valley. And West Valley was just dominant. They end the regular season with a 4-0 win over Southridge. That result, combined with Pasco's loss, meant Eisenhower just needed to win tonight to clinch the 3 seed. And the Cadets took care of business, beating Kennewick 8-0. So, Ike is the 3rd seed...Southridge is the 4th seed...and Pasco is the 5th seed. Also, Chiawana beat Hanford 3-2 in double overtime. And that win gave the Riverhawks the 6th seed in the Big Nine. |
