High School Soccer - State Tournament Recap 5-13-08
By Keith Leventhal
Its often said that winning a championship is tough, but winning 2 in a row is even tougher.
Last year, the Pasco boys soccer team won the 4A state title. This year, the Bbulldogs have been strong once again. And on Tuesday night, they kicked off their state tournament at home as they took on Eastlake. The game was tied at 1 after regulation and overtime, so they went to a shootout. And in the shootout, Eastlake's 6th shooter scored, while Pasco's didn't. So, Pasco's season comes to an end as they fall to Eastlake 2-1 in a shootout. The good news for the Bulldogs is that they'll only be losing 2 seniors from this team. The 3A state tournament also began on Tuesday night. Kamiakin headed over to Sunnyside to play the Grizzlies in the 1st round. Sunnyside scored once early in the 2nd half and once late in the 2nd half...and they end Kamiakin's season as they beat the Braves 2-0. The Grizzlies will be back on the field on Saturday when they play Kennedy. We had 2 other area teams make it to the state tournament. In 2A, Othello played their first round game in Cheney. And, the Huskies season comes to an end as they fall to the Blackhawks 3-0. Down in 1A, Connell was at home on Tuesday afternoon taking on Manson. And the Eagles advance to the state quarterfinals as they get the 4-0 win. Connell's next game will be on Saturday against Seattle Academy. |
