Fever Happy To Get First Win
By Keith Leventhal
The Tri-Cities fever underwent a bunch of big changes in the off-season.
And when the team finally got back on the field, they had high hopes for this year. But, 4 straight losses to start the season had everyone wondering what was going on with the team. Well, the good news is that after 4 straight bad games, the Fever finally played a good game this week. While they were losing for 59 minutes and 59 seconds, they scored on the final play of the game to get the come-from-behind 49-48 win over Central Valley. That win helped the team gain some confidence for the rest of the year. And head coach Cedric Walker says while the win was good, its just 1 game in a long season. Coach Walker says, "It feels good, you know, I'm more happy for the kids, glad that they, the hard work that they had, they put in, it finally paid off...but, like I said in the previous weeks, its just one game, we've got to get ready for Bossier, this week's over with, you know, it was good while it lasted, but, you know, we've got to get ready for this week." The Fever will be back at home again this week as they take on the top team in the southwest division, Bossier-Shreveport. The BattleWings are wrapping up a 3 game road trip this week, and are coming off of a 14 point loss to Tulsa. Saturday's game will get started at 7 over at the Toyota Center. |
