Yuen Drafted in 4th Round to Jets
KENNEWICK - Tri-City American Zach Yuen got his call to play in the NHL on Saturday when he was selected in the 4th round by the Winnipeg Jets.
Yuen was selected 119th overall and will join the NHL’s newest franchise.
The 18 year-old becomes the 56th NHL draft pick in Americans history. He is also the first defenseman taken since Eric Mestery, who was drafted in 2008 by the Washington Capitals.
Yuen was one of only three Tri-City players to appear in all 72 season games and 10 playoff games this season. He was also a standout in the W-H-L this year, with his plus/minus rating ranked in the top-10.
