Chiawana Has First Ever Letter Of Intent Signings

A little history was made over at Chiawana on Wednesday afternoon.

Since this year's seniors are the first senior class at the school, that means Wednesday's signings were the first in Riverhawks history.

And, it was a good group that signed on Wednesday.

The Riverhawks soccer star, Erin Huisingh, signer her letter of intent with Concordia University.

The school also had 3 basketball players who signed.

Mikaela Rivard is going to Portland State, Melanie Valdez is headed to Central Washington, and Hayley Hodgins will be playing at Eastern Washington.

These girls have had a lot of success with the Riverhawks.

And they say watch out, because things may be even better this year.

Eastern Washington signee Hayley Hodgins says, "A lot of the pressure is off, I mean, now I can just go out and play my senior year and have fun with everything and I don't have to stress about knowing where I'm going to go to college like a lot of my classmates."

Portland State signee Mikaela Rivard adds, "Just go out and, you know, have fun and that's what its all about, but, I mean, less stress and you know, have a fun senior year."

Just because these girls will be going different ways next year doesn't mean their paths won't cross again.

Eastern Washington and Portland State both play in Big Sky Conference, so Rivard and Hodgins will get to play against each other.
