High School Girls Soccer State Tournament Recap - 11-9-10
When the girls soccer state brackets were released, we all got the good news that at least one of our teams was guaranteed a trip to the state quarterfinals.
Unfortunately, that trip is going to come at the expense of another local team.
Thanks to the odd way the WIAA sets up the brackets, two of our local teams played each other in the first round.
Southridge and Hanford met on Tuesday night at Southridge.
These two teams split their 2 games this year, with each team winning on their home field.
And for the first time ever, Southridge moves into the state quarterfinals...they beat Hanford 2-0.
Next up for the Suns is a meeting with Decatur on Saturday.
In 4A, Chiawana is in the state tournament for the first time.
They faced a tough first round game against Lewis & Clark.
And Chiawana's first trip to state is over after one game...they fall to Lewis & Clark 2-0.
There was one other local girls soccer team that opened up the state tournament on Tuesday.
The Ki-Be girls are back at state for the 2nd straight year.
They went for their first ever state tournament win as they played Lakeside.
But, the Eagles came out strong, scoring 5 goals in the first half.
And that was more than enough.
They end Ki-Be's season, beating the Bears 5-1.
