Over the last decade, Washington State has had several good sports teams.
Of course, the biggest success stories were the 2002 Rose Bowl team and the 2007 and 2008 basketball teams.
And the man that's been in charge of those teams over the last decade has been Athletic Director Jim Sterk.
But, after 10 years with the Cougs, Sterk has decided its time to leave.
And Monday, he was named Athletic Director at San Diego State.
He becomes the 2nd Pac-10 Athletic Director to move to the Mountain West recently, joining Jim Livengood, who left Arizona for UNLV.
During his decade in Pullman, Sterk helped the Cougs become one of the top programs academically, and in the last 3 years, 13 of his WSU teams have made it to the post-season.
Washington State will now start a search to find his replacement.
Associate AD Anne McCoy will take over the position on an interim basis.
And Washington State President Elson Floyd said, "We appreciate the contributions that Jim Sterk has made...he positioned WSU athletics to continue a high level of excellence within the Pac-10 and across the nation."
