The NWAACC soccer season wrapped up Sunday with a pair of championship games.
The women's final was a rematch of last year's game.
In 2008, CBC beat Walla Walla 3-0 to win their 3rd title.
This year, the Warriors were looking for a little revenge against the Hawks.
CBC had a great chance to take the lead early in the game, but Julissa Rodriguez's shot hit the crossbar and the Hawks couldn't put the rebound into the net.
The game stayed scoreless through the first 90 minutes...so they went to overtime.
And just a couple of minutes into OT, Walla Walla had the ball deep in CBC territory.
It bounced back to Tahlia O'Loughlin...and she buried it in the back of the net.
That gave the Warriors a 1-0 win and their first women's soccer title in school history.
After the game, both coaches talked about how exciting this game was.
Walla Walla CC head coach Chad Bodnar says, "I just told them when we came in at the break before overtime, I said, look, if we score, its over and you don't have to run anymore so let's go do it and came out and got forward and Tahlia toe-poked it and it just went upper seven, so it was awesome."
CBC head coach Matt Mills adds, "It was fun and there had to be a winner and a loser, is what my assistant coach just said, so, its tough to lose it on golden goal in the overtime, but, still I'm proud of the girls and our season's been pretty, really good."
Winning the title was a big step for Walla Walla, after losing in the championship game each of the last 4 years.
Meanwhile, Coach Mills points out that CBC's sophomores went 7-1 in postseason play in their careers, and that's nothing to be ashamed of.
