Washington St. Trying To Fix Problems

Washington St. Trying To Fix Problems

By Keith Leventhal

I guarantee that Washington State wishes they had done a little more recruiting of Kellen Moore.

But, that's part of the reason the Cougs are where they are right now.

During Bill Doba's time in Pullman, recruiting wasn't real high on their to-do list...so, now, the Cougs don't have a lot of top tier players.

And that's a big reason why they're sitting at 1-4 and may set several bad records this year.

Right now, the Cougs are on pace to break their school record for points allowed per game, and the Pac-10 record of points allowed in league games.

However, head coach Paul Wulff is trying to stay positive.

He says if the Cougs can just hold on to the ball, things will get better.

Coach Wulff says, "We'll have a chance to be in the game and have an opportunity to win it, but if we're gonna be loose with the ball and not take care of it, then its going to be tough. We're not a good enough team to overcome mistakes like this and that's been real evident in all our games and so we just can't allow that to happen."

This week, the Cougs will head down to Los Angeles to play UCLA.

The Bruins are also struggling, having lost 3 straight games...but they're still 17 point favorites over WSU.

Saturday's game gets started at 7:15 PM.
