Americans Get Great Team Effort In Game 4

Game 4 of the WHL Finals was a must-win game for the Tri-City Americans.

After scoring a total of 2 goals in the first 3 games combined, the Ams finally got the offense going on Wednesday night.

The team scored 4 goals as they beat Calgary.

But the offense wasn't the top star of the night.

That honor belonged to Tri-City Americans goalie Alexander Pechurskiy.

He made his 2nd straight playoff start and he played one of his best games of the season.

Pechurskiy did allow goals late in the 1st and late in the 3rd...but, he also stopped 40 shots, including 22 in the 2nd period alone.

And the Ams say he's the main reason this series is going back to Calgary.

Americans head coach Jim Hiller says, "He was excellent, he was excellent and he made big saves when we needed them, I think, we needed that too, again, Calgary's a good team and we needed big saves and big goals, you can't have one without the other."

Americans forward Justin Feser adds, "Oh, it was huge for him to get a big win like this tonight, he played phenomenal, some of the saves he made, I wouldn't expect some goalies to make but he came through with a big effort."

Americans forward Brendan Shinnimin says, "I gave him a hug and he was pretty pumped and he looked at me and he's like, 'we can win, we can win', so, yeah, he's pretty happy and I think he's got some confidence now and I'm sure he'll be great on Friday."

That win cuts Calgary's lead in the series to 3 games to 1.

The Americans still have their backs up against the wall, but at least they have a little momentum as they go into game 5.

That game will be Friday night in Calgary.

The puck drops at 6 PM our time.
