First Annual All-Area Jam

The high school basketball season wrapped up on Saturday with the 3A and 2A title games.

But, we're actually not done with basketball yet.

On Sunday, the annual Media Classic game will be in Yakima.

And Tuesday night, it was the first ever All-Star Jam in Richland.

Some of the region's best players got together for some skills contests.

We start with the girls 3-point shootout...first up, its Hanford's Sammi Merry...she was knocking down everything out there...she ends up with 18 points.

The last shooter was Kamiakin's Madi Meyer...she gets hot at the end of her round...makes 2 in a row to get within 2...the 3 point moneyball will give her the title...no.

And Merry wins the first-ever girls 3-point title.

The boys 3-point shooters are up next...and you only need to see one guy...Kamiakin's Riley Hayfield...I've said it all year...this kid can shoot.

He ends up with 22 points and he takes home the title.

Then, it was time for the dunk contest...the best score for a single dunk went to Eastmont's Malachi Roberts...in the 2nd round...49 points...and how about that reaction...excellent.

The finals were between Roberts and Kennewick's Drew Loftus.

First, its Loftus...he jumps over teammate Reggie Clinton and throws it down...he'd get a score of 40.

But it was really no contest...Roberts puts it away with this dunk...gets a little help from Ike's James Lopez...jumps over him and throws it down...he wins it easily over Loftus.

There was also a 2-ball competition...and the team of Hayley Hodgins from Chiawana and Derek Porter from Southridge took home that title.
