Ams Have No Trouble With 2nd Place Portland
By Keith Leventhal
The Tri-City Americans are exactly a third of the way through the regular season.
Through their first 24 games, the Ams are 18-6 and leading the U.S. Division. At the start of Wednesday, they were 4 points ahead of 2nd place Portland. But, that gap would change on Wednesday night. That's because the Ams hosted the Winterhawks. Tri-City led 3-0 after 1 period. They'd add another goal in the 2nd and 2 more in the 3rd. And they beat Portland 6-2. The Ams are off on Thursday...then, they'll back on the ice Friday when they host the hated Spokane Chiefs. The Ams played Wednesday night without one of their stars. Brendan Shinnimin was up in British Columbia playing with Team WHL in the Subway Super Series. Shinnimin was on the ice, but he wasn't part of either WHL goal. Fortunately, those two goals were enough to beat Team Russia 2-1. Shinnimin is not playing in Thursday's Super Series game and he should be back with the Ams on Friday. |
