Hanford Football Making First Trip To State In Almost 2 Decades
By Keith Leventhal
The last time the Hanford football team made it to state was 1993.
Some of the current Falcons players were just learning how to walk at the time...and others hadn't even been born yet. This year has been a roller coaster ride for the team...and that was very evident this past Friday. Itheir regional tournament game, the Falcons trailed 21-0 at the half, but managed to come back and win 24-21. That put Hanford back in the state tournament for the first time in almost 2 decades. And Falcons head coach Rob Oram hopes his team isn't satisfied with simply qualifying for state. Coach Oram says, "We're excited, I hope that we're not content, you know, to make it to the tournament and I'm confident we're gonna come out and play real hard, hopefully we're not overwhelmed by the moment and we'll execute assignments and play within our scheme." By knocking off East Valley last weekend, the Falcons not only earned a trip to state, but they also got a first round home game. This week, Hanford will take on arguably the best team in the GSL, Mt. Spokane. These two teams met last year in the regional round and played a great game that the Wildcats won by 3. This year's game will be Friday night at 7:00 at Fran Rish Stadium. |
