Richland Volleyball Making First Ever Trip To State

The Richland volleyball team has been close to the state tournament before.

2 years ago, they won the district title...and they've been in the regional tournament for the last few seasons.

But, amazingly, the Bombers have never been to state.

Well, they managed to change that this year.

Richland was near the top of the Big Nine all season...and thanks to wins over Wenatchee, University, and Southridge in the regional tournament, the Bombers are headed to state as the 3rd seed from the eastern region.

The team only lost 4 matches all year, and because of that, they're feeling pretty confident.

Even though they lack state experience, the team says that could help them.

Richland senior hitter Elizabeth Judy says, "I think its good, all of us are coming in there really excited, if we go in there cocky and think that we own the place, then we're not gonna play well, so, we're gonna go in there and just play our game."

Richland senior hitter Alex Estes adds, "Some people may not see us coming, but, we have the confidence and the skill, if we pull ourselves together and we just play like we know how, like a team, then we'll be fine."

The Bombers will be the first team to hit the court when the tournament gets started on Thursday.

Their first round opponent is Auburn Riverside.

The Ravens last trip to state was in 2007...and they finished in 2nd place that year.

Thursday's match starts bright and early at 9:00 AM at the Toyota Center.
