The state tournament madness actually got started on Saturday with the state cross country meet.

Let's start our recap of the action with the B boys...John Talbot from Liberty Christian is in the blue and white...he would end up finishing in 13th place....and just a couple of seconds behind him is Nick Lumetta from Tri-Cities Prep...he crosses the finish line in 17th place.

The next race was the 1A boys...Royal has always had good runners...and this year is no different...Ethan Tonnemaker finished in 7th place...that was the best finish by a local runner this year...the Knights ended up in 10th place as a team.

Alright, let's move up to the big school races...in the 3A girls race, everyone had their eyes on Hanford's Erin Hegarty...she had another solid run in the middle of a stacked field...Hegarty would finish in 15th place.

Both 4A races involved some local talent near the top of the standings...the girls are up first...Walla Walla freshman Rachel Nelson holds off a pair of Eisenhower runners to finish in 11th place.

Then, the 4A boys hit the course...Kamiakin was hoping for a good finish...Anthony Armstong was the Braves top finisher...he ended up in 19th place...Kamiakin finished 8th as a team.

And congratulations to all of our local runners who took part in the state meet.
