Americans Are Finally Back At Home
By Keith Leventhal
Its been awhile since the Tri-City Americans have been on their home ice.
The Ams just capped off a 5 game road trip, and on Thursday, they held their first practice in the Tri-Cities in over a week. The Americans had a very successful road trip, going 4-1 and capping it off with a big 8-3 win over Kamloops on Tuesday. Tri-City is now 14-3, they're 2 points ahead of Portland in the U.S. Division, and 1 point ahead of Vancouver in the Western Conference. The good news for the Ams is that compiled that great record while playing most of their games on the road. And head coach Jim Hiller says that's going to help as the season goes on. Coach Hiller says, "Its hard to win on the road in this league, as you see by the records and it requires a lot of intangibles, courage, character, all those things, not to mention ability and I think the fact that we've done that, we've gained a lot of confidence here early, in the early part of the season that we can beat anybody, whether its home or on the road, as long as we come and bring the lunch buckets." After that long road trip, the Ams get to play one game at home, before heading right back out on the road. Friday, they'll take on the 2nd best team in the Western Conference when they play Vancouver. Then, its right back on the bus for games next week at Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, and Kootenay. |
