Big Nine Girls Soccer District Tourn. Preview
By Keith Leventhal
Tuesday night was the final night of the Big Nine girls soccer regular season.
At the start of the night, we knew which 8 teams would make the playoffs, but none of their seeds had been decided. The big battle was for the top 2 spots. Richland and Kamiakin started the night tied for 1st place. The Braves beat Pasco 2-1 and Richland beat Walla Walla 6-0. So, that means the two teams tied for 1st. But, since Richland won the head-to-head meeting between the teams, they get the top seed in the district tournament. Southridge started the night in a tie for 3rd...but the Suns lost to West Valley 4-0, so that dropped them to 4th place. Pasco ended up in 5th, followed by Chiawana, Wenatchee, and Moses Lake. So, we now know who's playing who in the district tournament. The district title game will be between Kamiakin and Richland and the game will be at Bomber Field. And 3rd seeded Eisenhower will be at home as they take on Moses Lake in a winner to regionals, loser out game. The other 2 games involve local teams. Southridge will be playing Wenatchee. And the 5 vs. 6 game is the fun one. Chiawana, who made the playoffs in their first year of existence, will play cross-town rival Pasco. Both of these games will also be winner to regionals, loser out. And all 4 games will be on Saturday afternoon. |
