West Valley vs. Richland Girls Soccer 9-29-09

By Keith Leventhal

We're just about halfway through the girls soccer season.

At the start of the night, there was only 1 undefeated Big Nine team.

Richland is a perfect 5-0 in league play and that's a big reason why they're ranked 6th in this week's Seattle Times 4A poll.

But, just behind them in the Big Nine is West Valley.

The Rams are ranked 5th in the 3A poll.

So, it was a battle of top 10 teams on Tuesday night...and it was fun.

This game was scoreless after regulation and OT...so we go to a shootout.

It was tied at 3 in the middle of the 5th round.

But, West Valley has the last shooter...its Lindsay Burns...and she puts it right over Olivia Diaz's hands.

West Valley wins the shootout 4-3.

And they become the first team to beat Richland this year as they get the 1-0 win.
