As the hockey season gets close to starting, that means the baseball season is starting to wind down.

Coming into Tuesday, the Tri-City Dust Devils led the East division by 7 and a half games with just 19 left to play.

And that means, if everything breaks right, the team could be just a few days away from clinching a playoff berth.

Tuesday, Tri-City wrapped up their series in Vancouver with a little afternoon baseball.

The Dust Devils scored a run in the top of the 4th and Vancouver responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning.

And that was it for the offense.

The Dust Devils end their series north of the border with a 2-1 loss.

Tri-City will have their final off day of the year on Wednesday...then Thursday, they'll be back at home as they open up a series with Spokane.

Speaking of the Indians, they started the day in a tie for 2nd place in the East with Boise.

Those two teams continued their series Wednesday night in Idaho.

And Spokane has no trouble as they beat the Hawks 6-1.

So, right now, Spokane is in 2nd place by themselves...they're 6 and a half games behind the Dust Devils, while Boise is 7 and a half games back.

The Yakima Bears were also in action on Tuesday night as they wrapped up their series in Eugene.

This was a high-scoring affair, and Yakima holds on to win 10-7.

The bears are also off on Wednesday...they'll be back at home Thursday when they host Boise.
