Dust Devils Drop Pitchers' Duel To Bears
By Keith Leventhal
The Tri-City Dust Devils only have 25 games left this year.
And almost half of those games are against the worst team in the Northwest League, the Yakima Bears. Those two teams kicked off the I-82 rivalry series Tuesday night as the Dust Devils won 6-0. On Wednesday night, Tri-City and Yakima were back on the field at County Stadium. This game would be scoreless through 12 innings. But in the bottom of the 13th, a Matt Davidson single scores Brett Greer and the Bears get the 1-0 win. Tri-City and Yakima will wrap up their 3 game series on Thursday night. With the loss, the Dust Devils could have lost more ground in the East division race. But, they caught a break, at least for a night. Spokane was leading Salem-Keizer 2-1 in the 4th inning when their game was suspended because of rain. They'll finish the game on Thursday afternoon, then play their regularly scheduled game. 3rd place boise also lost on Wednesday, falling to Everett 6-2. So, right now, the Dust Devils are 5 and a half games ahead of Spokane and 8 in front of Boise. |
