Its been just over a month since Tom Moore resigned as the head coach of the Prosser football team.

Earlier this week, we told you that the school was close to picking his replacement.

At the time, school officials didn't have a whole lot to say.

But, late Friday, the school issued a statement saying Benji Sonnichsen would be their next head coach.

That move is subject to school board approval...and the board will meet on Tuesday to discuss the hire.

Sonnichsen played for Coach Moore at Prosser in the late 90's, then went on to play college football at Pacific Lutheran.

From 2005 to 2007, he was the head coach at Mount Vernon High School, then last year, he rejoined the Mustangs as an assistant.

He replaces Tom Moore, who resigned after 23 years so he could spend more time with his family.
