CBC Volleyball Wins, Players Honored
By Keith Leventhal
The CBC volleyball team is off to a solid start this year.
The Hawks were ranked 5th in the latest NWAACC poll, and had beaten every other top 10 team except Chemeketa and Spokane. Well, on Wednesday night, CBC crossed one of those teams off the list. The Hawks were in Spokane on Wednesday evening. CBC jumped out to a 2 games to none lead, but couldn't quite finish the job. Spokane fought back and forced a 5th game...but the Hawks had just enough, beating the Sasquatch 15-9 in the 5th and winning the match 3 games to 2. That win keeps CBC in first place in the east region...and they'll be back in action next Wednesday when they host Big Bend. But wait, there's even more good news for the CBC volleyball team. A couple of their players were honored by the league. Sophomore Joey Larsen was named NWAACC defensive player of the week. Larsen also picked up the east region defensive player of the week award. And her teammate, former Hanford star Brittini Butler, was named east region offensive player of the week. |
