Central Washington smashed Mesa State 48-14 with a dominating performance in front of the home fans in Ellensburg. The Wildcats opened the scoring by blocking a punt for a touchdown, and then added two more scores on TD passes by quarterback Mike Reilly to take a 21-7 first quarter lead. Reilly ended up throwing 4 TD passes in the game and Courtney Smith returned a kickoff 95-yards for a score to propel the Wildcats to a 2-0 start.
