Fever Get Another Come-From-Behind Win
By Keith Leventhal
The Tri-Cities Fever must have an issue with leading in their games.
In their first 4 games, they never held a lead, and obviously went 0-4. Last week, the Fever held the lead for a couple minutes in the 4th quarter and then scored on the final play of the game to get their first win. And this week, you'll never guess what happened. For the 6th straight week, the Fever struggled early on and were trailing by a couple touchdowns in the 3rd quarter. But, for the 2nd straight game, Tri-Cities came back and, this week, they scored with 25 seconds to go to get the 48-44 win over Bossier-Shreveport. After the game, the team said they know they're getting better, but there's still work to be done. Fever Head Coach Cedric Walker says, "They decided to show up in the 2nd half, if you think about the last 5 drives, we had 4 stops, but, we can't afford to spot teams then decide to play the 2nd half, you know, it's the same old, same old...if we want to be a great team, we gotta learn how to start to finish." Fever quarterback Josh Kellett adds, "We're showing signs of greatness and we're making plays when we need to and that's the bottom line and that's what I talked to them and coach talked to them about, you know, we gotta play 60 minutes." While the Fever have beaten two sub-500 teams at home over the last 2 weeks, things get exponentially tougher this week as the team heads up the road to play at unbeaten Spokane. When these two teams played last month, the Shock held on to get a 4 point win. If the Fever want to have a chance to win the division, they have to win this game. And the action gets started Saturday evening at 5. |
