Several Local Teams Going To State

By Keith Leventhal

There's also a lot of high school playoff news to get to.

And we start on the baseball field.

After a weekend full of games, most of the state playoff brackets are set...and our teams claimed a few spots at state.

In 4A, Richland won the district title, and they'll be back on the field on Saturday playing either Central Valley or Redmond in the first round of state...and that game will be in Spokane.

In the 3A bracket, Hanford, Kamiakin, and Kennewick all made it to state.

The Lions will open their state run on Saturday against Ferndale, while the Falcons and Braves will take on one another...and all of those games will be in Yakima.

3 other area baseball teams have also already qualified for state.

Othello, Connell, and DeSales each punched their state ticket this past weekend...and they'll all be back on the field on Saturday.

The state soccer brackets are also out...and we've got 4 local teams that made it to state this year.

In 4A, Pasco will open up their state title defense Tuesday night when they host Eastlake.

Kamiakin made it to state in 3A...and as a reward, they'll get to play Sunnyside for the 4th time this year.

In 2A, Othello will be playing at Cheney in the first round...and down in 1A, Connell opens the state tournament at home against Manson.

And all of those 1st round games will be on Tuesday.
