High School Baseball Playoffs Update 5-7-08
By Keith Leventhal
There's also a lot of high school baseball to talk about.
The 3A regional tournament got started on Tuesday. The CBL had 5 teams in the bracket...and in the first round, those teams went 4-1. The only CBL team that lost on Tuesday was top-seeded Southridge...and they fell to district rival Kamiakin. That game was actually the best first round game as it went down to the final batter of the game. The Braves held on to win 2-1 and advance to the state tournament for the 2nd straight year. On the other side of the championship bracket, Kennewick is going to state for the first time since 2004 as they beat Mt. Spokane 4-2. And that sets up a seeding game between those two cross-town rivals. The Lions and Braves will play at Kennewick on Saturday afternoon in the regional title game. On the other side of the bracket, Hanford will play at Southridge on Friday in an elimination game. The winner will move on to play either West Valley or Mt. Spokane for the region's final state berth. |
