Fever Get Ready For First Game

By Keith Leventhal

While the Americans are enjoying a little time off, the Toyota Center will still be busy this week.

The Tri-Cities Fever are getting ready for their first game of the season.

And, after a busy week, no one's really sure what to expect.

Earlier this week, the Fever traded starting quarterback Ryan Porter to Green Bay, and picked up another quarterback, Jason Campbell from Boise.

Those changes have created some uncertainty around the team.

But, when I spoke to the players last week, they told me no matter who comes or goes, they're really coming together as a team.

Defensive back Ruschard Dodd-Masters says, "From some of our backgrounds and where we live at away from home, from football, we're all kind of familiar with each other and some of us went to the same colleges, so, the gelling part is kinda easy."

Lineman Johnny Jackson adds, "We have a great chemistry for it to be so short in time of us all being together that I really believe that we're going to be able to accomplish some amazing things as long as everybody does their part."

After going 1-1 in the preseason, the Fever will open the regular season at home.

In fact, their first two games will be at the Toyota Center.

Friday, the Fever opens the regular season against Stockton...that game will get started at 7.
