It’s getting down to crunch time in the Northwest League.
With 9 games to go, the Yakima Bears are still in the top spot of the east division by two games. The Tri-City Dust Devils miraculously are still alive, but are seven games behind the bears.
Tonight both teams went head to head as the first of six straight games these teams will play against one another.
Tri-City struck first tonight, in the 1st inning. Leonard Reyes hits a single to right field. Nathan Hines scores from third off after Henry Zabala’s throw to home goes past catch Jhoan Pimentel.
Dust Devils would strike again in the bottom of the 3rd off a Jared Simon hit to left field, that scores Dominic Altobello.
Yakima would respond though. In the top of the 4th bases were loaded for Mike Freeman and he delivers for the Bears. Two runs scored for Yakima, tying the game up at 2 apiece.
Yakima would get the last laugh in this one. They score 2 more in the 6th inning, and the Dust Devils would not comeback. The Bears win keeps them atop the east. Spokane also won tonight which means Yakima still has a 2 game lead in the division.
