Candidates for governor debate in Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — The candidates for Washington governor, Republican Rob McKenna and Democrat Jay Inslee, meet for a debate Tuesday night in Yakima.

Polling indicates the two are locked in a close race to replace Democrat Chris Gregoire, who did not seek a third term.

If McKenna is elected he would be the first GOP governor in the state since 1980.

The candidates face off at the Yakima Convention Center.
