Police: Man released from jail walks across street, steals car

KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — Police say a man who was released from the Benton County Jail in Kennewick walked across the street and stole a car from a parking lot.

Police chased the car Wednesday night and tracked down the man after he tried to run away.

The 30-year-old told officers he took the car because he didn't want to walk. He's back in jail.
