Umatilla County burn ban in effect

Pendleton, OR – On Thursday June 26, 2014, the Umatilla County Board of Commissioners adopted Order No. BCC2014-044 declaring a temporary ban on all non-agricultural burning within the unincorporated areas of Umatilla County.

This excludes any land under the jurisdiction of the State of Oregon, the United States Government, Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and those covered by a Fire District.

This order, as stated, means that the temporary ban is only for those areas under the jurisdiction of the Umatilla County Smoke Management Ordinance. Special care should be exercised when igniting fireworks.

Agricultural burning is still allowed, although further restrictions may be imposed based on weather conditions. The minimal amount of recent precipitation will not lessen the impact of the significant and unseasonable dry fuel conditions.

The burn ban is effective until further notice.
