Tri-Cities unemployment up in February

TRI-CITIES, Wash. -- The unemployment rate in the Tri-Cities was 9.6 percent in February, up from January's 9.1 percent.

However, the jobless rate is still lower than last year at this time. The unemployment rate for the Tri-Cities reached 10.5 percent in February 2013.

Benton County's unemployment rate was 8.8 percent in February, while Franklin County's was 11.8 percent.

Walla Walla County had 7.9 percent unemployment in February.

All three counties had higher jobless rates than the state average. Washington's overall unemployment rate was 7.3 percent last month.
