Tracking Trends: Babies born addicted in the Tri-Cities
BENTON/FRANKLIN COUNTIES - KEPR is following up on the number of addicted babies born right here in the Tri-Cities. We first told you about the shocking trend last year.

Well, here's some good news for you. The number of babies taken out of their homes for substance abuse has gone down by over 50%. That's between January to June of this year, compared to the same time period last year. But officials say there are many more cases than you'd think.

We talked with one mom who's known a mom who's abused drugs while pregnant.

"When I hear about people using drugs while they're pregnant or even as a family, it breaks my heart. It makes me very sad for the children and for the parents," said Tri-City resident Shawna Breedlove.
