PASCO, Wash. -- Ten local teachers were honored Thursday for their excellence in education with a Crystal Apple Award.

The teachers are from the Kennewick, Pasco, Richland, Ki-Be, North Franklin, Finley, and Columbia-Burbank districts.

The Crystal Apple Award program is the largest of its kind in our state. It recognizes outstanding educators.

KEPR spoke with one of two Pasco recipients. Seth Johnson is a social studies teacher at New Horizons High School.

"It really means a lot because we have so many awesome teachers in the Pasco School District that are well-deserving, and to be recognized for the work that I've put in really means a lot," said Johnson.

This was the 16th annual Crystal Apple Award Ceremony.
