So far the consensus is that many school buildings can't be remodeled - but need to be rebuilt instead. Marcus Whitman elementary seems to be ground zero for the problem. Teachers say plumbing, electrical and heating all need to be improved.
But it's up to local taxpayers to see if new construction is worth the cost.
"In this financial time, it's tight! And I just want to make sure my vote is for the right thing," said West Richland parent Jennifer Stachofsky.
If approved, the bond would also build a new alternative school.
